Special People Who Show Up During the Second Coming of Christ

By Michael Bresciani Question Is the women of Revelation 12:lf a depiction of Mary the mother of Jesus? Answer No. With the exception of Catholics the general interpretation of this chapter is that the woman represents the nation of Israel, the twelve stars are the twelve tribes of Israel, and the man child is the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible offers no queen of heaven only an omnipotent God who is father to the redeemed, one prince to occupy the throne, who is the Lord Jesus Christ, and one Spirit by which we are all made one in the believing church of Jesus Christ. I am convinced, that if we could hear Mary the Mother of Jesus speaking to us today about all the divine attachments and attributes that we have laid on her, she would probably reply with a simple, cut it out! The only other mother that might come in as a close second to Mary for receiving unearned accolades would he Mother Nature. But no mother has ever been sent to be the propitiation for our sins. It behooves us to stay focused in this troubled time. Handing over divine attributes to someone who probably only wants to rest like everyone else is not considered focusing. The last days are not a time for unfounded fodder, fickle phantasms, and far fetched fluff. Question Who are the one hundred and forty four thousand people who receive a special mark on them in Revelation 7:3-4? Answer It has always puzzled me over the years that so many people have asked this question. The passage clearly says who these people are. They are twelve thousand Jews from each of the twelve tribes of Israel who are marked, preserved and protected and probably mightily used during the last three and one half years of the antichrists reign of terror. Perhaps what people are really unsure about is why these people are sealed rather than who they are. They are Jewish people who some people think may be supernaturally converted to Christ at the resurrection of the two prophets in Revelation chapter eleven. Since some Christians have never been taught why they are converted they have appointed some special function to them for the last days. That function although not clearly outlined is thought to he the preaching of the gospel during the last few years of the antichrists rule. The Bible does not actually outline a specific purpose for them as it is commonly taught but it does, however, give a specific reason for their lives being preserved. That reason is the keeping of a promise that God gave to them repeatedly over the centuries. The promise is that he would save a remnant of them (the Jews) for himself. After centuries of chastisement for missing the time of their visitation God will look with favor on the Jews and pull out a remnant for his own name. Luke 19:44. Isa. 10:21f. I am glad that God keeps his promises and I am also glad that these people who have suffered so severely will finally see their Savior and enjoy the rewards of serving him in one of the highest places in the entire scheme of things. How Not To Get Whacked By Journalists

By Paramjit Mahli Journalists have an online game called Whack a Flack where they get to pelt cartoon character public relations professionals with pointy paper airplanes made out of bad press releases. Having worked extensively on both sides of the communications borderprint and broadcast journalism and then making the transition into financial public relationsI have experienced public relations professionals of all kinds, including the whacked. Some have helped me enormously, particularly when I was crashing with deadlines due to breaking news; others have provided me, in a timely manner, with much needed background information for interviews. Seasoned professionals have made themselves immediately available by acknowledging they were unable to help with a current story. Then there are those in PR who are just plain annoying. I used to thinkduring my live TV days at CNNWhat is their objective? Getting to speak to me, or pitching a story? I think for many, it was the former. If they didnt have their pitch down in 20 seconds, they lost me and got whacked! For many, I never returned calls. Nothing personal, I just didnt have time to return all of them; if I had, I would have missed my deadlines and been out of a job! Here are some basic rules for how not to become a public relations flack thats whacked! 1. Reporter Calls. Always return them; if your firm or partners dont want to respond to the question, say so right away so that the reporter can move to his/her next source. As a rule of thumb, ask when the deadline is and if you have the information that they need respond as soon as possible. The sooner the better. Guaranteed, if you do this reporters will come back to you when working on other stories. 2. Do familiarize yourself with the reporters area of expertise. This is often the most annoying pet peeve for reporters. They expect you to do your homework. Find out what they cover, when their deadlines are and their contact details. Dont phone them to get their email address or telephone number. If they work in broadcast, find out good times to phone. If you are in-house, Bacons, Vocus, Factivia, and Mediamap all have resources that will provide you with the answers. 3. Become a source for reporters. Help them with the stories that they are working on. Theyre always looking for the latest information. Stay up-to-date on industry/sector-related developments and provide articles, reports and access to sources. That way a relationship is built which will pay dividends in the long run. 4. Dont send reporters goodies that dont cut it. Making luncheon appointments for getting to know you wont do the trick, unless youre making the appointment for lawyers who are spokespersons for the firm or a big case that may be newsworthy. Better to attend trade-related events and introduce yourself. Alternatively, extend an invitation to an event your firm is putting together. 5. Reporters can be trusted. A large majority of them are trying to find all the facts of a story so that they present a balanced view. Your perspective may not be theirs, but with few exceptions all of them are working on tight deadlines trying to get all the facts. Reporters cover news; if your press release is timely and newsworthy, and sent to the appropriate reporter, chances are the reporter will contact you. 6. Mergers or changing offices is NOT news. Highlight events like these in your client newsletter but dont send a press release to a reporter. It will diminish the respect the reporter has for you as a professional. 7. Dont send releases to all the reporters at a media outlet. If more than one ends up working on the story theyll be thoroughly annoyed! As a rule of thumb dont send the press release to more than one reporter or editor. For national television, send releases to the guest booker, producer and reporter who specialize in that area. 8. Dont get snotty just because a reporter that contacts you works for a daily with a small circulation. Remember, this person will be there tomorrow and could end up as the editor. Its all about relationship building. Also remember that in this day and age nothing is local! You really dont know who will research from where and what results will pop up. I have conducted several searches before interviews and Ive been Googled by interviewees. 9. If a reporter does catch you off-guard, dont become hostile. Ask for a half hour or so to prepare information and to get the appropriate lawyers to answer questions. 10. Finally, in a global economy make certain that you have an online newsroom on your Web site. Reporters will look your firm up on the Web; if theres no media relations contact person listed, it will turn them off. On a basic level, make sure you have complete contact details, current press releases (test to see that all the archived releases are available), the firms profile, bios of executives and facts and figures (i.e., how many employees work for the firm). Dont confuse public relations with advertising. For lawyers, this is definitely hard; they are creatures of habit and like to be in control. In media relations you dont control the story, or the interview and facts. If you did, that would be advertising. Still, with good media planning you can manage the message that is reaching your target constituents in a successful way. Remember, good media relations isn’t simply good for the media, it’s good for you, too. A productive relationship with the news media means more free publicity for you and more even-handed reporting of the issues that directly affect the firm, and youll avoid being whacked. The Prenuptial Agreement Dilemma

By Jeffrey Broobin Should we have a prenuptial agreement? OK. You can look at the idea as very cold and unromantic. You can look at the idea as a considerate and practical way to decide before the marriage certain issues having to do with your money. It is interesting to note that the custom of creating prenuptial agreements is not the modern invention that it seems to be. During the 19th century, before the Married Women’s Property Act of 1848, prenuptial agreements were necessary for women in the United States. Until the act became law, everything a woman owned or inherited was transferred to her husband. If he died or divorced her, she was just out of luck. Nowadays it is not so uncommon to execute prenuptial agreements. And these are not just for the famous super-rich couples we read about, where one spouse is much richer than the other. These are couples who want to be upfront about financial issues and get that out of the way before the wedding. A prenuptial agreement is a signed and notarized contract that describes how a couple will handle the financial aspects of their marriage. The prenuptial agreement has many positive benefits that are not related to divorce, and although it is not very romantic, it has many positive elements. If a future spouse won’t sign a prenuptial agreement, it may be best to discover this before the wedding. The financial well-being of children from a previous marriage can be protected Personal and business assets accumulated before the marriage are protected by a prenuptial agreement. A prenuptial agreement reveals financial expectations before the wedding. A prenuptial agreement discloses assets a spouse may want to give to children or other family members in the event of death. In the event of a divorce, the prenup eliminates battles over assets and finances. Signing a prenup does not mean that a couple is anticipating divorce. Prenups address financial matters need to be faced. A well-constructed prenuptial agreement can preserve family ties and inheritance. Despite its many positive features, the prenuptial agreement cannot accomplish everything. A prenuptial agreement may be considered unromantic. A prenuptial agreement may give the appearance of a lack of trust between the partners. It is true that a prenup could create resentment between certain spouses. Certain requirements exist so that the prenuptial agreement cannot be declared invalid. These include failure to disclose all assets, evidence of fraud, forcing the agreement upon the other spouse, unfairness, and lack of representation at the time of signing the agreement. If you are considering having a prenuptial agreement it is important to remember these things: Dont wait until the last minute to talk about financial matters. Discuss the agreement early in the relationship. Dont try to hide your thoughts, feelings, and especially your assets. Why Your Shower Might Double as a Chlorine Gas Chamber

By Judy Phillips How many of you know the time it takes for a solvent to breach the outermost layer of the skin? Three researchers took the time and effort to find out just that. According to the results, they found that skin absorption contributed from 29 to 91 percent of the total dose, with an average of 64 percent. The only talk we ever hear in regard to solvents and what the skin can absorb has always been surrounding industrial or job-related circumstances. No one ever talks about what people are exposed to in and out of the home. Oddly enough, numerous investigators have studied the workings of the skin and how it protects us from the penetration of solvents and contaminates since the mid-sixties. After years of tests and research, they deduced that skin absorption of contaminants in municipal water has been highly underestimated and that drinking or ingesting municipal water may not represent the only or even primary route of exposure. Additionally, the absorption of contaminants through the skin to the body as a whole is not the only damageit can also affect the skin itself. Much More Than Just Water So, what are these contaminants that may be in your municipal water system? Well, lets start with chloroform (Trihalomethane or THM) and trichloroethylene (TCE) for starters. These two volatile and toxic chemicals have been estimated by The National Academy of Sciences to kill 200-1000 people each year from cancers just by drinking the water. If that isnt enough to scare you, the real threat you should be concerned about in reference to these contaminates is more likely to be as air pollution. According to The American Chemical Society, People are exposed to more potentially harmful indoor pollutants in home, office or car than outdoors. What is more, studies by Doctor Julian Andelman, Professor of Water Chemistry, University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, uncovered the fact that less chemical exposure occurred from ingesting chlorine contaminated water than using it to wash clothes or take a shower. According to statistics, chlorine has been added to disinfect our municipal water supply for over a hundred years. Naturally, the amount of chlorine in your particular area would depend on the quality of your water supply, but even if there is no noticeable taste or smell, that does not necessarily mean that it is not present. The Chlorine Gas-Chamber Lets talk about the simple act of taking a shower and what the ramifications are to you and your family. According to Doctor Andelman, his studies reveal that when the temperature of the water and chemical concentrations increase, and the diameter of the shower head hole decrease, the hazard increases. In fact, his test results show that hot showers (109F) can free up a large percentage of the toxic chemicals into the air. The bottom line is that Chlorine, TCE, chloroform and benzene are just a few of the toxins that are easily absorbed through your lungs and into the bloodstream. Additionally, both the heat of your shower and the large surface-to-volume ratio of the small drops of water intensify the vaporization. Ramifications of Repeated Exposure to Chlorinated Water At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, the United States swim team declared that over one-fourth of its members experienced degrees of asthma. This prompted an immediate investigation by researchers into finding out what the cause might be. The study generated the following results. Chlorine, when mixed with organic substances (such as skin particles, hair follicles, water born bacteria, and even sweat and urine), develops into THMs (trihalomethanes). Unfortunately, the exposure to these chemicals was found to cause asthma. The good news is that once a person is removed from the exposure, symptoms were eventually relieved. One study by a Doctor Simone Carbonnelle, of the industrial toxicology and occupational medicine unit at the Catholic University of Louvain in Brussels, studied children who were on swim teams or spent time at the pool on a daily basis. After just 15 minutes a day around the pool, the study found levels of lung tissue damage and was directly proportional to the amount of time each child spent around the pool. According to Doctor Carbonnelle, the level of lung permeability would be the equivalent of what you would expect to see in a heavy smoker. Even more recent studies that have been conducted by the US Environmental Protection Agency have revealed that the maximum risk of exposure may result from the inhalation of chlorinated water. A study of notable importance was one done by two investigators from the California Department of HealthKirsten Waller and Shanna Swann. They examined the records of 5, 144 pregnant women from the Santa Clara, Walnut Creek and Fontana areas. They uncovered a 15.7% higher chance of miscarriage among women who drank 5 or more glasses of chlorinated water per day. Along that same vein, a Canadian study from Dalhousie University reported that women who drink or bathe in water containing these chemical compounds increase their risk for stillbirths. Remember when you finished swimming for the day, but hated the part where you suffered through the rough, brittle hair and dry, itchy skin? Well, that is what you are doing every day of you life when you shower or bathe in chlorinated and chemically treated water. What is more, the content of this article is only the tip of the iceberg. Why would you deliberately bathe or shower in toxins every morning or embark on a task to devastate your lungs and sinuses, aggravate you allergies, wreck you skin orGod forbidincrease your chances of aging and cancer? What Can You Do About It? Wake up, folks! You skin is the largest organ of your body. You warm it up with your shower, open up the pores making your skin function like a sponge. Consequently, You not only inhale the chlorine vapors, you also take them in through your skin, directly into your bloodstream. According to statistics, you take in, through your skin, more chlorine in a 10-minute shower than by drinking 8 glasses of the same water. Showering and bathing in chemically treated water is a significant riskBUT it is also one that you can do something about. Remember, it is up to you to protect yourself and your family. The best way to combat exposure is in your shower through the use of an inexpensive inline shower filter. There are several excellent manufacturers to choose from, so get to it! Growing Organic! Herbs, Flowers and Fruit

By Judy Williams Creating no dig gardens on top of the soil gives you many immediate advantages over the usual garden. It is quick and easy It will improve the soil underneath the bed It is weed free and organic While my site has concentrated on the vegetable garden, the same garden building techniques can be used for flower beds, herbs and fruit trees. Herbs Herbs can be planted straight into the no dig garden bed. Because of their uses, the herb garden should be situated in a sunny spot very near your kitchen. Then you can simply step out the door and make an ordinary meal into a culinary delight! If there isn’t an obvious space handy, herbs will grow very well in containers. However, if you do have the space, there is a wonderful project called the ‘Herb Spiral’ you can build. It’s extremely space efficient and caters for the various microclimates that herbs like. It involves building a vertical spiral, usually from rocks, about 6 ft across and 2-3 feet high. The top is quite dry and hot, the bottom is moist and there is a sunny side and a shady side. A garden of this size will need about 1.5 cubic metres of soil or compost materials. The top is good for Mediterranearn type herbs like rosemary, thyme and sage. The mid sections suit chives, shallots, Italian parsley, tarragon, rocket and coriander. The lower, cooler section suits borage, peppermint, pennywort and lemon balm. These are just suggestions as there are many plants that will grow in your spiral. Useful note: For those in the Northern hemisphere, the hottest side of your spiral will be facing south. For those in the Southern hemisphere, the hottest side of your spiral will be facing north. Flowers and Shrubs Every garden has some sort of ornamental flowers or shrubs. It’s fundamental to our concept of a garden! The no dig gardening method will allow then to thrive no matter where you are. There isn’t the space to go into specifics here, but some simple considerations before you get started… Try to plant species that are native to your area. There are many reasons for this but the best one is that those plants will do best where you live! Don’t get stuck in a high maintenance routine for something that simply isn’t suited to your area. Plant species that will attract local fauna. Help struggling native animals, birds, frogs and insects by building suitable habitat for them. You will be rewarded many times over when they discover where you live! Plan what you want from your garden. A colour scheme? Flowering year round? What will really thrill and inspire you? That is what the garden is for. It feeds your spirit while you make your way in the world. Fruit trees To use the no dig garden method with fruit trees, you have to be patient. The garden will have to be 2-3 generations on before the benefits have gone deep enough for the fruit tree to be planted. However, once the hard yards are done (mostly by local worms!), you should be thinking about planting your own fruit trees. Apples are the most popular fruit on the planet. Do you recall how the fruit tasted when you were a kid? Nothing like the stuff you get today. The disturbing thing is that pesticides can be taken into the fruit and stay there long after harvest. Then they are waxed and stored in chemical dependant environments. Seriously consider growing your own fruit. Berry canes, apples, cherries, lemons, limes, plums, pears, oranges, there’s no end to the possibilities. Explore what will grow in your neighbourhood and plant those trees! It’s not too hard and a single tree (apple) can net up to 500 apples in a growing season. Growing items of your own food is incredibly rewarding. Even decorating your house with cut flowers that you have grown yourself is vastly more satisfying than just buying a bunch. Gardening is a creative and spiritually nourishing pastime. Ponder your space. Imagine the limitless variety available to you. Then go crazy with inspiration! Judy Williams (http://www.no-dig-vegetablegarden.com) aspires to become a fulltime earth mother goddess. This site acts as a primer for all vegetable gardening aspects covering topics like how to build a garden, nurture seedlings, container gardening and composting. Weddings

By Thomas Morva Among the many social traditions followed since time immemorial, the wedding is arguably the most prominent and unique one. The mere mention of the word wedding forces us to think of grandeur, excitement, new challenges and people, a special relationship and so on. The term wedding is used to refer to the ceremony celebrated to mark the beginning of a marriage. It is either religious or civil. Whichever country it may be, the simple meaning of a wedding is that it marks the beginning of a new stage in life. Weddings require both the bride and the groom to meet new people and learn to live with them. A wedding is celebrated in different ways in different parts of the world. For example, in the Western countries, the tradition of the bride wearing a white gown is common. Also, other customs like the wedding cake, wedding reception, etc. can be found in most Western weddings. A wedding may be celebrated in an extravagant and pompous manner. Or, it can be a simple and brief ceremony. In some cases, the wedding reception is celebrated in a grander manner than the wedding itself. In the reception, the bride throws a bouquet to the crowd and the woman who catches it is supposed to be the next one to ring the bell. On the lighter side, there are some funny aspects to weddings. To quote, Before marriage, a man yearns for a woman. After marriage, the y is silent. Through the ages, the original meaning of the term wedding has undergone changes to such an extent that the ceremonies and other rituals associated with it have lost their real significance. Some say that a wedding is destiny. If we ponder upon this, the original meaning of a wedding can be understood. Destiny is something that cannot be predicted or avoided. The same holds true for weddings, too. It brings together, or in other words, creates a bond between a man and a woman, who once married, will become life-partners. A wedding kicks off this special relationship and the real challenge of a successful wedding is the transformation of two people into most compatible life-partners. Anesthesia Malpractice Prevention

By Kevin Stith Any person involved in the administration of anesthesia may be held liable for malpractice and personal injuries if he acts negligently. There are many cases where patients do not wake up after surgery due to negligent anesthesia care. In order to prevent any an anesthesia malpractice lawsuit, proper anesthesia care should be observed. Before the operation Pre-anesthesia care involves evaluating the patient, confirming pre-operative data, and recording the operative plans. The record should contain complete personal information of all people participating in the procedure, including the nurses, anesthetics, anesthesiologists, surgeons and even their assistants. Final patient assessment for anesthesia tolerance should never be forgotten before proceeding with the operation. During the operation Before beginning with the operation, the patient should be positioned properly with the correct placement of intravenous lines. Monitoring equipment including electrocardiograms (ECG), oximetry, and automatic pressure cuffs should be well set-up. The anesthesia staff is responsible for other activities such as intubation of airways on the patient, placement of tourniquets, and management and delivery of agents, medicines, oxygen, and other fluids. All operative activities, including urine output and blood loss, should be monitored and evaluated by the staff as well. All information gathered from the operation is compressed in an organized record. It should contain charts for vital signs, fluids, and drugs; numerous data blocks; and simple notes for important events that occurred. These data should never be taken for granted as they will be inspected for reference to the on-going and future operations. The patient should not be discharged from the operating room to the recovery room unless he is already conscious and stable. After the operation If the operation is successful, the patient is then placed in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) under the service and care of the anesthesia department. Nurses and other health staff from that department should continue to monitor and evaluate, at regular time period, the vital signs and pulse oximetry of the patient. After enough observation, the patient can be assessed if he is ready for discharge from the unit–either to another hospital service or from the hospital. The nursing staff should always keep the anesthesiologist informed of the condition of the patient while the doctor ensures that the operation was successful. New Treatment for Depression to be Presented at the American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting

By Charles Donovan Within the next few weeks, the FDA is expected to issue its final approval of a medical breakthrough treatment for chronic or treatment-resistant depression. This new therapy will be presented at the American Psychiatric Association’s Annual Meeting in Atlanta from May 21st-May 25th. The Annual Meeting is the largest gathering of psychiatrists in the world. Over 25,000 psychiatrists are expected to attend this important medical meeting. After an eight-year investigation of vagus nerve stimulation and depression, the FDA has deemed the therapy approvable with its final and binding approval decision expected within the next two weeks. Upon final approval, patients will be able to get a prescription( from their psychiatrist) for vagus nerve stimulation, also called VNS Therapy. Vagus nerve stimulation has been FDA approved for epilepsy patients since 1997. Over 30,000 epilespy patients have safely been implanted with the stimulator. The vagus nerve nerve is a direct pathway to the hippocampus and hypothalmus in the brain. The 60-90 minute out-patient procedure is performed by a neurosurgeon or an otolaryngologist( Ear, nose and throat). A small pacemaker-like stimulator is imlanted in the patient’s upper left chest, just below the left arm pit. A lead wire from the stimulator is tunneled underneath the skin and coiled around the left vagus nerve in the patient’s neck.
